About Dr. Mary
M.D. from Loyola Stritch University 1982
Board Certified in Child, Adolescent, Adult Psychiatry
Executive M.B.A. Benedictine University 1998
Dr. Mary has been a practicing psychiatrist for 22 years; she has worked in both the public and private sectors and has cared for patients from all walks of life. Accordig to Dr. Mary, one of the most alarming trends in the practice of medicine is how it has shifted away from caring for patients, to an emphasis on bureaucracy, paperwork, and almost exclusively on the precription of medications. Theres is little to no focus on wellness and prevention. The rate of stress-related illnesses is at an all-time high. Health costs have spiralled out of control in an era of a weakened economy that is ill-equipped to handle the financial burden of these out of control health expenditures.
Dr. Mary’s commitment is to help stay focused on quality patient care and make recommendations for a simpler, more cost effective, higher quality health care system. No longer can she sit passively and “…watch health care costs bankrupt our nation and leave this mess to our kids and our grandkids.”
“My intention is to collaborate with health care leaders and collectively create solutions. The solutions are out there, we just need to hone in and fine tune them. Integrating innovative solutions to a $2.3 trillion/year health care industry won’t be easy, but it must be done. The alternative, to sit passively and watch the current system crash, is simply and utterly unacceptable.”
“My words today are stronger than even when I wrote my book this past year. The current economic crisis has redoubled my commitment to incorporate health, wellness and prevention into our health care system. When people are healthy, they don’t need high-priced technologies or medications. And if they do, it’s for shorter periods of time. And they feel better, are more productive, handle stress better and enjoy greater quality of life.”
Thanks for joining me, we’ve got work to do!
